Catalog description
The seminar focuses on addressing the educational needs of P-12 students with disabilities in a culturally responsive and sustaining classroom. Emphasis is on approaches to talking with students, valuing identity, establishing routines, implementing positive supports, structuring lessons, assessing and designing instruction to meet students’ learning needs. In addition, this course includes direct observation of your teaching, with supervisory input/feedback/evaluation (60% of course grade). Requires open interactions and responsiveness to your supervisor’s input and feedback, follow-through on suggestions and plans, as well as thoughtful, well-crafted, re-drafted, and on-time supervisory assignments. This course must be taken twice. This is a key course and you must receive a B or better to pass the course. This course may be repeated only once.
