Catalog description

This course focuses on the social, cultural and historical dimensions of drug use, and treats the causes and consequences of drug use and abuse as a social--rather than a bio-physical--phenomenon. Course topics may include: drug use as a universal phenomenon; history of drug use; regulatory issues related to drugs, especially in relation to race, class and subcultures; and drugs as a media phenomenon.
