Catalog description
This is a first-level requirement for students specializing in EPI-BIOS, who will take subsequent intermediate and advanced level biostatistics courses. It will introduce students to the theoretical basis for and practical application of common statistical methods and principles used in public health, such as those related to disease measurement and distribution, probability, hypothesis testing, statistical significance, sampling, and univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis. The course is taughtthrough lectures, computer exercises using data management and statistical packages and hand-calculations.
