Interviewing and Communication Skills for Advanced Nursing Practice

Catalog description

This course provides graduate nurse practitioner students foundational knowledge and skills to effectively and therapeutically communicate with adults seeking health evaluation. Emphasis is placed on gathering and disclosing relevant information in a clinically sensitive manner, mindful and empathic listening, and building rapport and trust with patients. Students will participate in simulations with standardized patients to practice and demonstrate clinical competencies in health interviewing and both clinically and culturally sensitive communication skills.
