Catalog description
This supervised experience gives students the means to connect conceptual and theoretical information about children in first or second grade. Students will have the opportunity to examine developmentally appropriate activities for children and ways of assessing learning in diverse settings. Students will examine the roles of families, programs, schools, and communities in urban environments, as well as the assessment of mathematical and science development.Students will complete 5 hours per week of fieldwork for a minimum of 50 contact hours per semester. Students will develop guided observation skills, acquire practical knowledge of the design and management of instruction and the classroom environment, and work effectively with individual students and small work groups.Students receiving a grade of B in fieldwork must apply to the chairperson.
