Black British Histories

This course explores the histories of African and African diasporic people in the British Isles as well as across Caribbean and African Atlantic societies over three centuries. Tracing the histories of slavery, emancipation, freedom, colonialism, and post-colonial realities through focusing on the perspectives, ideologies, and mobilizations of Africana people allows the course to investigate the agency of racialized persons engaged with the British world in innovative ways.
