Introductory Yiddish 1

Catalog description

Offers students the opportunity to explore the language and culture of Ashkenazic Jewry. Students will learn to read, write, and converse in Yiddish and will be introduced to a number of Yiddish songs. By the end of the semester, students should be able to converse in Yiddish on a variety of topics and to read selected Yiddish texts. 4 hr./wk. plus 1 hr. at the Language Media Center; 3 cr.
