Gender, Race, & Latinidad

Catalog description

This course will explore the concepts of identity and subjectivity as Latinidad. Topics will include post-colonialism and practices of resistance, transnationalism and migration, gender and sexuality, language and bilingualism, media representation and art production.Drawing on a variety of interdisciplinary sources we examine how racial definitions, gender and national belonging have historically and in recent times-- through critical world events-- intersected in the production and representation of Latinidad.
