This course is an exploration of the predominant themes and concerns of 1960's American Popular Culture through the reading of plays and musicals of that time period. The selectedsubjectmatterwillbesupplementedwith the viewing of several films outside of class time, plus the assignment of novels, nonfictionworks, and essays of the period. The predominantthemes of the period (women'srights, the civil rightsmovement, the gay pridemovement, the sexual revolution, and soforth) willbesurveyed.
