Catalog description

In this intensive, accelerated course, students will engage with three core questions: Who are my people? What challenges do we face? and How can we transform our resources into the power needed to address these challenges? Over two weekends—September 5-7 and September 19-21—students will gain foundational skills in community organizing and relational leadership. By the end of the course, participants will have formed teams and developed a plan for a mini-campaign, rooted in the resources of their own communities, to build power and drive social change. In this critical moment in U.S. history, the course offers an opportunity to collaborate with fellow students passionate about social justice, while equipping them with the tools to create sustainable strategies for impactful change. The course meets in person for two weekends. Following the in-person sessions, students will complete 2-3 individual coaching sessions with a teaching fellow. Additionally, two virtual lectures will take place on Thursday, October 30, and Thursday, December 4, from 5:30-7:00 PM. By the end of this course, students will have the practical skills and networks to lead effective, community-driven organizing efforts aimed at real-world impact.
