Why do we feel the way we do, and whose rules shape those feelings? This course examines how emotions are not merely personal experiences, but produced through our interactions with others, institutions, and structural conditions such as educational access and immigration policies. Combining insights from sociology, psychology, and cultural studies, the course analyzes how feelings such as anger, alienation, joy, connectedness, and empowerment emerge from and reflect broader systems of power, revealing the social and political forces behind our inner lives.
