Disability Studies

Catalog description

This course offers a survey of the interdisciplinary field of Disability Studies that takes as a starting point disability as a social and cultural experience and an object of study and intervention. Disability Studies has developed as a scholarly and political arena in tandem with movements for disabled peoples' rights and social integration and as a critical response to medical and other clinical approaches. The course will draw on material from across the social sciences and humanities.
