Child Counseling and Play Therapy

Catalog description

This course introduces graduate students to theoretical and practical approaches to counseling children. We examine the developmental, cognitive, behavioral, affective, family, educational and environmental issues involved in child therapy approaches. Therapeutic modalities include play and creative arts therapy, child-focused family therapy, and multicultural counseling. We also address countertransference issues in the treatment of children.
