Catalog description
The Psychology of Religion and Spirituality (PRS) applies the discipline of psychology to understanding the role of religion/spirituality (R/S) in human thought, feeling, and behavior. This course provides an in depth, critical examination of the theories and research in this field, and will cover such topics as the varieties of religious/spiritual experiences across individuals and cultures, the role of social, personality and developmental psychology in R/S, and the relationship between R/S and well-being. The approach will follow tenets of the Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality (Division 36 of the American Psychological Association).
