Catalog description

This course introduces the bedrock concepts behind quantum theory (qubits, superposition, entanglement, measurement effects, etc.), carefully examines them through examples, and looks at how they’re applied in quantum computation. No previous knowledge of quantum mechanics is assumed; the class is designed to be accessible to students from all hard sciences. The only pre-requisite is experience with linear algebra. If you have questions about quantum weirdness (like “Schrödinger’s Cat” or “Spooky Action at a Distance”) or you’re interested in learning about the rapidly evolving quantum industry (like how quantum computers break encryption), then this is literally the only class for you!
