Symbolic Logic

Catalog description

This course extends the work of Philosophy 20200. The focus is on rigorously formulated systems of propositional and predicate logic, with emphasis on theorem-proving and the formalization of natural-language reasoning. Attention will be paid to the theory of relations, definite descriptions, the translation of elementary arithmetical concepts into logic and proofs of the deductive completeness of various systems of logic.
