Catalog description

An exploration of GLBT identity as portrayed in American and international cinema during the past century. Beginning with Conrad Veidt in Anders als die Anderen (1919), we move on to presentations of both stereotypical and groundbreaking portrayals of gay people, delving into narratives and documentaries dealing with homophobia, self-hatred, acceptance, AIDS, familial interaction, and the evolution of the GLBT rights movement in a heteronormative society. Underground films will be included.
