1 section
Catalog description
This course develops a critical perspective on human rights issues in Latin America, with a particular focus on how Cold War-era military dictatorships and other authoritarian mechanisms have created challenges that the young democracies of the region are now facing. Students will interrogate both political and corporate violence, learn how elite sectors of society benefit from that violence, and explore the ways that human rights movements have attempted to pursue justice and democracy in the region.?
