Catalog description
This course will explore the work of Italian Jewish women writers and their efforts to re/construct subjectivity through autobiographical writings. Students will engage in the reading of Natalia Ginzburg, Edith Brück, Lia Levi, Clara Sereni, and Elsa Morante, and of peer reviewed critical articles. Together we will analyze these authors’ representations of history, genealogy, trauma, and “self-construction.” We will use Brightspace Threads (asynchronously) to comment and respond in a written format.
