Introduction To Sephardic Literature

Catalog description

An exploration of the culture and history of Sephardim using their literature as an attempt to understand how Sephardic Literature differs from Ashkenazic Jewish literature, as well as other types of Jewish and world literature. Readings will be divided into three main sections: (1) Religious material: including Piyutim (liturgical poetry), philosophy, halacha, Mussar and kabbalah (2) Secular Philosophy and secular poetry (3) Contemporary selections including holocaust writers (Primo Levi, Yehudah HaCohen Perahia)
