International Human Rights Law: Theory and Practice

Catalog description

This course aims to explore key concepts, approaches and norms which guide the work of human rights lawyers and advocates for vulnerable groups around the world. Through case studies, we critically examine how human rights narratives are mobilized in international courts and United Nations treaty bodies. Particular attention is paid to the role of civil society and marginalized groups in shaping the law and the limits of legal discourse to bring about social justice.
