Post-1945 Europe

This course covers the history of Europe from 1945 to the present. Readings highlight the post-war process of recovery; the politics of the memory of the war; the Cold War from its beginnings to the collapse of Communism; the process of decolonization; and the birth pangs of the European Union. Special attention will be paid to the case of divided and then re-unified Germany.
