Catalog description

Transnational social movements among African peoples in the Atlantic world are the main focus of this course.It examines the complex meanings of freedom, redemption and liberation, from the era of the Atlantic slave trade to current globalizations. Topics include the impact of the Haitian Revolution, Black Nationalism and Marxism, decolonization, Rastafari, and Black Power.
