This will explore major themes in the history of China's "Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution" (1966-1976), a unique and extremely turbulent period in contemporary Chinese history. In this course, students will examine the current scholarship as well as relevant primary sources regarding the origin, development, and consequences of the Cultural Revolution.
