Catalog description

This course provides an introduction to the history of the modern world, and to the study of history. It offers an overview of the processes that connected the planet’s various regions and cultures and those that have kept them apart. Beginning with the Mongol expansion in the thirteenth century that brought together large parts of the Eurasian continent, the course traces the global transformations that organized peoples, cultures, and economies around the globe. Instead of a comprehensive survey, this course will highlight key themes in a handful of regional settings.
