Great Books and Their Legacies

his one-semester course introduces students to a selection of great books from the western tradition. Students analyze these works in detail, addressing important themes such as the journey, the home, and religion. These texts are then paired with modern “legacies,” texts that inherit or critique the classical tradition. Through reading the modern texts alongside the older works, students will explore the continuing relevance of the classics in modernity.
