Catalog description

This course will cover several instrumental methods commonly used in environmental sciences, including atomic absorption spectrometry, atomic emission spectrometry, X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, ion chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, etc. Students will learn the principles of these instrumental methods during the first half of the semester, and operate on selected instruments during the second half of the semester. Prerequisites include one-year of college-level chemistry, one-year of college-level physics, and one semester of earth/environmental science.
