Catalog description

Physical, chemical and biological characterization of municipal solid waste streams. Generation, transport (collection and distribution), handling and disposal of municipal solid waste streams. Technologies used in source and field separation of solid wastes. Disposal of source separated and commingled solid wastes. Terminal disposal of solid wastes – planning, design and operation of landfills and thermal conversion facilities. Generation and treatment of landfill leachates. Recycling of municipal solid wastes. Characterization and disposal of hazardous wastes. Required field trip. This course is crosslisted with CE 58400 Solid Waste Management, and therefore is not available to students who have already completed CE 58400.
