Laboratory. Origin, adaptive radiation, morphology, ecology and systematics of mammals. Discussion of the reptile-mammal transition emphasizing the fundamental characters of teeth, ear structure and tarsal bones. Survey of mammalian orders and practical work in laboratory on living families and local species, including field methods and preparation of specimens for study. Lecture and laboratory are integrated; the course cannot be taken in separate parts.
