Catalog description

This course will prepare students to communicate projects, ideas, and findings with the scientific community - both orally and in writing. The course will include seminars by faculty in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior - through which the students will 1) be exposed to the work developed at CUNY and 2) discuss effective presentation strategies. Students will present their own projects, obtain feedback from peers and faculty, and re-present ideas to the group. The course will also have a strong writing component: students will write scientific research proposals and manuscripts in class and at home, share them with the group, and edit as needed. All students will be required to write a research proposal in the format of an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, which will be evaluated by a panel of peers.
