Catalog description

This course will explore identity issues in art with an emphasis on the more recent debates in contemporary art. Questions and topics will pertain to discussions of diaspora, dislocation, cultural aesthetics, and hybridity, among others. Readings include critical and theoretical texts, as well as exhibition catalogs and artists' statements, revealing a plethora of approaches and ideas by artists, art historians, critics, curators, and other aestheticians.
