Catalog description

This course explores the political, cultural, social, and artistic transformations that took place in Latin America during the 19th century, when battle cries for independence put an end to three hundred of European colonial control. The course will also study the revolutions that ensued, and how art was used in the discourse of national identity mainly throughout the former Spanish and Portuguese American territories.
