The foundations of language in its country of origin and its subsequent expansion throughout the world. Emphasis on regional similarities and differences in pronunciation, lexicon, syntax, and usage through the analysis of contemporary texts, films, television, and musical lyrics, as well as materials available on the Internet. Qualifies as a LOTE (Language Other Than English) course for Pathways College Option purposes.
