Catalog description

This course introduces students to artmaking through the lens of contemplative inquiry. With a focus on the direct experience of artmaking, students will critically examine contemplative approaches in the arts, while simultaneously developing and reflecting on their own practice. Students will engage in a wide- ranging exploration of Artmaking at the intersection of art and science, and the kind of knowledge generated in the process of completion through artmaking.. Will include beholding sessions in Brooklyn College art gallery spaces, weekly journaling, hands-on knitting, and visits from guest artists with an inward- focused practice. Focus of course will be on particular modes of artmaking such as knitting, painting, photography, and/or sketching,
