Catalog description

Contribution of literary sources to the study of politics. Political concepts and problems include freedom, authority, race, sex, property, and marriage. Application of political criteria and aesthetic criteria to works by such authors as Aeschylus, Austen, Melville, Hurston, Morrison, Ngu~gi~, Naipaul, Danarembga, Butler, Bechdel, Achebe, E. P. Jones, and Marshall. Satisfies the Depth and Breadth Area Studies B requirement of the English major. This course is the same as POLS 3440.
