Catalog description

Native American literature of the late 20th and 21st century. Focus on works on identity, race, and the natural and spiritual world, engaging each writer and work in their geographical, cultural, and literary context. Such writers as Linda Hogan, Louise Erdrich, Joy Harjo, Sherman Alexie, Paula Gunn Allen, Leslie Marmon Silko, and N. Scott Momaday. This course fulfills the requirement: Breadth and Depth Area Studies A: Race/Ethnicity or Empire/Post-Colonialism; or Breadth and Depth Area Studies B: Genre; Thematic Studies; Interdisciplinary Studies.
