Parenting as a relationally-based, supportive and educative process; supporting parent-child relationships, family-centered care, and the needs of parents with young children with and without developmental delays or disabilities, beginning in pregnancy; explore reflective practice, and how trauma, resiliency and early relationships impact brain development; how parental attitudes and practices, intergenerational relationships, culture, racial/ethnic diversity, immigration, and the social ecology influence and relate to parenting, and children's development and learning, with a focus on diverse urban communities. Promoting inclusion and equality across all families. The home and family as an educational environment; supporting parents and parent-child relationships in the hospital/medical clinics, at home, and in early intervention programs, early childhood centers and school settings.
