Catalog description
The new Latin American literature from its origins to independence and maturity. Such twentieth-century writers as Carpentier, Fuentes, Garcia Marquez, Guimaraes Rosa, and Paz. Impact abroad of the new masters of Latin American literature: Neruda's on North American poetry, Borges's on the New Criticism, Cortazar's on the cinema. (Not open to students who have completed Comparative Literature 60.) This course is the same as ENGL 3622.
