Comparative study of the shorter forms of prose fiction. Reading and discussion of such works as Gogol's The Overcoat, Dostoevski's Notes from the Underground, Flaubert's A Simple Heart, Mann's Death in Venice, and Kafka's The Metamorphosis. (Not open to students who have completed Comparative Literature 5 or 13.) This course is the same as ENGL 3608.
