Catalog description

The course explores the oral tradition in Africa. It gives specific attention to its interpretations, its compositions, and its transformation. It introduces the student to poetry, prose, epics, folktales, sagas storytelling, folk drama, drum language praise and freedom songs, contemporary styles of oral literature and the performers who shape these forms. This course in the same as Comparative Literature 3632. Prerequisites: English 1010 [1]
