Human Resources
CUNY Bernard M Baruch College · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course focuses on the management of human capital in organizations. Specifically, we focus on how human resource management affects individuals, organizations, and society through its impact on individual productivity, quality of work life, and organizational performance. The course can be conceptualized in terms of five main content areas: Business and Labor Market Environment, Attraction and Recruitment, Selection, Employee Development, and Performance Management. Across these areas, the course places a particular emphasis on HR practices that are empirically supported and can be applied in organizations of any size. We also emphasize understanding (and managing) the ethical dilemmas often associated with making staffing decisions.
