Catalog description

This course is intended specifically as an introductory course targeted at managers to make them data (science) literate. This course will provide them with the concepts and tools necessary to initiate basic business analytics projects, as well as the knowledge necessary to work effectively with data scientists and IT personnel for larger projects. While a significant portion of the course focuses on data preparation, examination, modeling, and visualization, we will also spend time on the managerial context surrounding business analytics with specific examples in the financial sector as well as salient ethical and legal issues. Further, we will examine some of the necessary big data infrastructure concepts that have enabled this new analytics paradigm.
