Catalog description

This course offers an introduction to key statistical and probability concepts used in investment management and analysis, corporate finance, and risk management.This knowledge is critical for managers who need a solid understanding of empirical data and statistical methods to support sound decision making. Topics include descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis with an emphasis on model formulation and the interpretation of results. The use of spreadsheets to facilitate analysis will be developed. The course is delivered with a mixture of lectures, class problem discussions, and empirical exercises in which students apply the tools to real-world problems.
