Corporate Financial Theory and Applications

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the study of corporate finance with a strong emphasis on fundamental principles. Students will gain key analytical DCF valuation tools in equity and debt securities as well as capital projects, all of which are foundational in the context of sound financial decision making. They will extend this analysis to the level of the firm with additional valuation models such as comparables, and will form and evaluate models for estimating the firm’s cost ofcapital. Students will gain perspectives essential for executives who are responsible for identifying and evaluating opportunities for their firms, such as growth internally through capital investment or externally by acquisition. Special topics include raising financial capital in the financial markets, financial restructurings, and board governance.
