Catalog description

This course considers different manifestations of the Latin American novel and focuses on its thematic and formal aspects. In addition to examining literary techniques, it investigates sociopolitical as well as racial and gender issues pertinent to the countries in which the literature was written. Authors may include Gabriel García Márquez, Mario Vargas Llosa, Juan Rulfo, Laura Restrepo, Cristina Peri Rossi, and Elena Poniatowska.
