This course provides students with a comprehensive view of Hispanic cultures and their global presence. Highlighting regions such as Equatorial Guinea, the Philippines, the Canary Islands, Gibraltar, Ceuta, Melilla, and the broader Maghreb, and exploring phenomena like the Latinx and Hispanic diasporas all over the world, this course examines the influence of Hispanic societies in diverse global settings. Through an exploration of literature, art, film, and music from these areas, students will learn about the historical, cultural, and socio-political contexts that have shaped the Global Hispanophone, focusing on the outcomes of cultural exchange and diasporas, and the tensions that arise within these complex interactions.
