Catalog description

This course examines the evolution of Spanish film and its social and cultural relevance in Spanish society in the 20th and 21st centuries. It emphasizes the role of cinema in perpetuating or deconstructing iconic aspects, concepts and trends of the Spanish artistic tradition. It includes historical, theoretical, literary and filmic texts. Among the authors are: Lope de Vega, Benito Perez Galdós, Luis Buñuel, Carlos Saura, J. A. Bardem, L. G. Berlanga, Ana Mariscal, Pedro Almodóvar and Pilar Miró.
