Catalog description

The course teaches students how to solve business problems and thereby improveprofitability and operational efficiency of a client organization. In order to do that, they will be taught fundamental skills for leading change in the business operationsfunction, including both in-house and external client perspectives. The focus ison the management consulting project lifecycle with emphasis on the followingskills: client management, listening and problem-solving, professionalcommunication and presentation, delivery and execution, teamwork, and leadership. Students will learn the nature and purpose of management consulting, the range and scope of an operations consulting practice, and professionalism and ethics in consulting. Throughout, student teams will analyze real consulting projects under the guidance of OM faculty mentors so that they can practice consulting skills.
