Catalog description
This course consists of a coordinated and supervised internship in financialmathematics. Students enhance their educational experiences by working asfinancial mathematics interns. Students keep journals describing each day’sactivities, duties, and responsibilities, with emphasis on how academicmaterial is applied to carry them out. The journals will also emphasize newtechniques, theories, and methods that students learn in the course of theinternship. Weekly meetings with a faculty mentor are used to discuss thejournals; and a final paper summarizing the experience is required. Studentsare supervised by a faculty mentor and professional staff in the organization.The faculty mentor meets with each student’s immediate supervisor at leasttwice. The first meeting occurs near the beginning of the semester to discussgoals. Another meeting is held near the end of the semester to discuss thestudent’s performance and to evaluate the experience. This course is gradedon a pass/fail basis.
