Catalog description

This course advances the study of harmony to include applied chords, modal mixture, modulation to distantly related keys, and chromatic dominant preparation. Contrapuntal study includes 16th- and 18th-century forms and techniques. Students demonstrate their mastery of harmonic practice in a composition project and analytical essay. (Formerly MSC 3028. Not open to students who have completed MSC 3028)
